You may be right about the misalignment, but I'm not sure what I'd do about it... my Bosch alternator doesn't seem to have any rubber bushings. I looked at the exploded diagrams in my phonebook-sized official Saab 99 repair manual & it appears the SEV alternator bas bushings where it attaches to its mount, but mine doesn't. My A/C comp doesn't have any either. I know what you mean about deteriorating bushings- my '76 Volvo's air pump was bouncin' all over the place until I replaced its ancient rubber bushings.
