An allen wrench is a hex wrench that works internally as aoppssed to the standard hex bolts. You used a 7mm allen to remove the caliper to remove the pads. Didn't you? The slide pins holding the caliper to the mounting bracket are 7mm allen. make sure to lube and clean them while you have them off. They have to slide with operation, if they hang, the brake can stick or not apply.
