I'm about in the same boat as you are... I put a K&N on my '94 Eclipse, although a "special" [S code] air filter was available from Amsoil for my daughter's '97 Eclipse. I'm not sure about the apparent performance improvement with either the Amsoil or the K&N on our Eclipses, but the change in my wife's Chevy Lumina was not the least bit subtle--even my wife noticed it!
