As a long time SAAB owner (currently driving a '94 9000), I've been eagerly anticipating the 9-5. SAAB has done a great job for the past year sending me e-mail and "private" web pages extolling the 9-5 and heralding the April US launch. The reality is that my dealer got one car, a base model 4 banger, stick, cloth - not what the typical driver of a brand's flagship is looking for. What's more the V6 SE won't be here till late August! They're not even available for European delivery in 1998. So, SAAB has done a great job getting me all hopped up and ready to buy, but alas no car! But on the up side thay have done a great job of educating me about the BMW, Audi, and Mercedes products. Maybe the merger agreement with GM dictates that they begin making mediocre cars with crappy first year quality and low production levels. I'll just bet that there's a 1999 price increase looming about the time when you can actually get a car. Now that I read the posts from 9-5 owners discussing poor quality and design elements I'm may be thanking SAAB for not having one to buy.
