Saabs turbos, especially, are optimized for low-rpm power delivery. Similarly, the supercharger in the Ford Thunderbird SuperCoupe is optimized for high-rpm performance. It all has to due with the size and efficiency of the turbo or supercharger... these days, the method has little to nothing to do with the delivery of power. -Justin
