I have a 89 9000 Cd Turbo. Bought it as a demo with 7000 miles on it. It now has 139,000. I like the car but have put more than $8,000 into it. All parts and service cost like a bandit--especially A/C which blew out and cost $1,300 to fix. Also lots of other problems--many electrical that are annoying. But I do not wish to sell. The car does not look old, and when I shine it up it looks outstanding. We recently put $700 into it for the 130,000 maintenance. Got new plug wires and the Oxygen sensor plus other normal tune up stuff. It really runs great now. It is a semi-exotic car and you need to do the maintenance--especially check the A/C at least once per year because if it loses a charge it might freeze up on you. I have an automatic had no problems yet also no problems with the turbo. You need to change the oil religously. I hope to get 200,000 miles on it. The electrical connections seem to be the biggest problems or weaknesses with this car. I love the leather interior. It is wonderful to step into the car after 9 years and still smell the leather (we do not smoke). So all in all you need to spend $ to keep it running. Good Luck. PS: I have a 1979 Pontiac Bonneville with 240,000 miles on it. Has original engine and tranny. I treat it and the SAAB the same. People often ask why I drive around in a 19 year old car and I tell them I have not had car payments for 16 years! difinity wrote: > > Hi all, > > We are putting together a series of articles on the 9000 for SAAB Torque > Magazine, the magazine for the SAAB Club of NSW (Oz), and are interested > in and stories past and present owners may have of their experiances > with this sadly missed model. > > We would like to here stories about where you have taken the car, good > and/or lifesaving experiences, bad experiences (please keep these short) > etc. Those sent will be published where possible.
