The message <5V2X1.1387$OA2.4340837nopsam.rdc2.occa.home.com> from "Geoff" <Jeffe_Verdenopsamail.com> contains these words: > On my '91 9000, the driver's door trunk release switch *always* operates, > regardless of the ignition being on/off. Is this normal for all 9000's? > Are they still doing this on the 9-5? Has anyone > rewired their switch off the ignition, so it only works when the key's on? > Geoff The boot release from drivers door is certainly 'live' at all times on my 9000CDi no matter what position the ignition key is in. I hadn't given it much thought until you pointed out the security problems - I may just unplug the switch same as you. One modification I have already made is to put a small buzzer across the boot light terminals to activate when the boot release is pressed and the ignition is on - reason for this is that my boot lid does not raise when the switch is pressed. The weight of the spoiler must be too great for the springs/struts to raise automatically and I had visions of driving off down the road without realising the boot was unlocked and free to bounce up. It annoys me that the central locking doesn't include the boot release - having to grope around for keys with two armloads of shopping seems to defeat the object - I feel another modification coming on..... Cheers Pete.
