Maybe I can actually say something more useful...
This makes good sense if you can find that sensor, and ensure it's not used by
the rest of the engine management. I don't know enough about Trionic and late
model 900's to say, so ask a mechanic, or e-mail Ywan Mason. But I think the
simpler alternative is to find the 5th gear switch on the transmission. Every
car has one, and I could point you right to it on a classic 900, but again, you
need someone who knows the next generation. If you jumper across the contacts
leading to this switch, the shift-up circuit always sees 5th gear, ergo no
light.
