Subject: Air Intake Plugged



While washing my engine I plugged the air intake bellmouth to prevent
water intrusion.  Well, after washing I started vehicle with air intake
still plugged.  To my surprise the engine seemed unaffected.  At idle
their was I slight change in engine operation when I removed the rag.  I
repeated this several times with no great change.  Where is the air
coming from?

I know, the first answer I would think of would be "Don't plug it!"  It
still has me perplexed.
