I'm in London UK and also looking for the same kind of car. Here they seem
to go for about £1,000 in private sales (much higher in garage sales).
People advertise them for around £1,500 but get little response, and have to
drop the price. Almost all have good service histories. I want a non-turbo
manual (less to go wrong) and hatchback because I have a double bass. A
local garage has a 84 one for £850 - just over 100k miles. Won't guarantee
it but will set it up nicely for an MOT test and they say it's good. This
might be my safest bet, but I'd prefer a later model. Very few seem to have
under 100k miles from the 80s but at least with a service history this seems
to be genuine miles. Obviously Saab owners love their cars and take care of
the paperwork!
