The V-6 needs a timing belt every 30,000 miles, starting at 35K. Saab pays for the ones up to 95K, then you will have to pay. There have been recalls/service bulletins for the water pump and serpentine belt pulleys. I had a '94, but traded it in on a '98 900Turbo. The V-6 engine is a very nice one when it is working, but its reputation for [lack of] longevity with the timing belt instead of Saab's traditional timing chain makes its resale value very bad. -- John R.
