Hello?! I don't know about them being in cahoots, but I have always found that anyone who advertises themselves as a Saab specialist will really stick it to you when it comes to repairs. I had a caliper seize on me, the "Saab/Volvo" mechanics in my area wanted $256/caliper - said I had to replace both and that was just for parts. So I was looking at over $700 easy. I bought a rebuild kit for $17 and rebuilt the caliper. No problems after that. I also had to replace the "computer" that controls the fuel injection system. The same service station wanted $400 for a used one. Went to a junk yard outside the city and got it for $25. I think Saabs are reasonable on a low budget only if you are willing to work on them yourself. -- Jeff.
