My 88 9000 T had an ABS problem when I bought it. It was finally (!) traced to the inside of the brake discs (rotors in the US, I think) being dirty. There are serrations round the inside edge and the sensors "feel" the holes. When they get filled up with brake pad dust etc it confuses the ABS ECU and the light comes on. Mine was intermittent. If you stopped and restarted the car the light went out, but would come on again later. Since cleaning them I've had no further trouble in 5 years - apart from when the main Saab agent (and importer) in Oslo sprayed the ECU with water, but that's another story. Jeremy Massey, Norway
