Hi folks, I bought a new 9.3 convertible earlier this year, and have noticed that the front rims (I have spoked rims) very rapidly accumulate black brake dust. My Saab service said it was the quality of the pads (they can't use asbestos pads anymore). The interesting thing is it only occurs on the front rims, not on the rear rims. I'd be interested to hear if anybody else has noticed this. I'm suspicious of any brake problems, as when I took delivery (this was a showroom model, not ordered from the factory), I'd driven it no more than 10km when I noticed what appeared to be a lack of response, but on smelling hot brakes, turned out to the brakes locking on. This was intermittent (stopping and switching off would 'clear' the problem). It turned out that the Antilock Braking System had a sticky valve, and was coming on automagically. The dealer replaced the ABS unit, and all brake discs and pads, under direction from Saab Australia. cheers Klaas Visser Sydney, Australia
