Ben, Yours sounds okay, if it just goes above the halfway mark, but not into the red. I have an 87 9000S and my saabtech friend drives an 87 9000T. If your coolant is in a 50/50 mixture, your system is clean and your thermostat is good, you should not have any problems, as long as your cooling fans come, when they are suppose too. Make sure you use a Saab thermostat, 82 degree celcius, and you can get a thermostatic switch for your fan at the same temp. If you have minerals in your tap water, I suggest you use distilled water, when mixing your coolant.
