I have an '87 900S that was converted to 134a.  All we did was:

1.  Totally evacuate the system.

2.  Put adapter fittings on the compressor for the new refrigerant.

3.  Put the 134a lubricating oil in the system.

and. . 

4.  Charge her up.

Pretty simple really.
