Dennis, I have an 87 9000S 5 spd, 187,802 miles. My brake lights just went out too. I believe my brake light switch is bad. I thougth it may have been a bulb. I changed the top bulb, and I realized after I could not hear the click of the switch when I stepped on the brake pedal. I will get a new one tomorrow. If you take off the sound insulation under the dash it is easy to get to. You will need a small straight slot screwdriver for the four across the front. Just undo them and pull out by hand. You will need the smaller star bit to remove the last two screws holding the insulation in place....Good luck. Ken Washington 87 9000S 87 900S 83 900T
