Subject: '93 9000CSE Turbo not boosting properly

Just purchased a '93 9000CSE Turbo, manual, and had a highly recommended local outfit do a pre-buy. They said that is was in very good condition (79,000 miles, dealer-serviced and many parts replaced brand new within the last 20k miles). He did say that the Turbo was not boosting properly, although it sure feels powerful to me, never having driven one before. In his words, "When you hit the gas full on it should push you back into the seat and not let you up until you release the gas"... turbo gauge stays pretty much in the middle of the green when driving and doesn't fluctuate much, and high-end accelleration (going from 60 to 80 or so) doesn't feel very powerful. I'm wondering if anyone has had experiance with this (the car drives perfectly well, but the turbo doesn't boost properly) and if there are any fairly simple things that I can check on before I send it in for service. Thanks! -Jeff Malin jmalin at erols.com
