Dear All, Thanks to all those who replied with suggestions about what might be causing my steering wheel to judder at speeds around 85-95 mph. I took the car in to have the wheels balanced today, and discovered that the front tyres were on their last legs in addition to the wheels being out of balance. Two new tyres and a four-wheel balance later, I was able to hit 115 without any juddering (then I saw a police-car in the distance...). Thanks again, chaps!
