It my youth with Mini's etc. To test is it is the bores / rings add a little REDEX (or possibly gear oil) to the cylinder whilst compression testing - will effectively improve compression if bores. To get the oil out remove all plugs and place cloth / wadding over plug holes and crank over - most of the oil will come out.- will smoke for a while afterwards though. You might try using REDEX to soften coke deposits etc - a little in each cylinder on a warm engine and let it soak... crank over with plugs out/ cloths covering to soak up oil to remove excess.. Be prepared for lots of smoke on initial startup / first few miles. On older carb based cars you also introduced redex through the carb to clean the valves - but on a turbo you would have to find a way to put it in after the intercooler... turbo presure pipe may do it but I have not tried that.
