Peter, I notice the same things! I have a 1990 9000S, and we have also have a 1991 9000 and a 1995 900SE. I always see different wheels, subtle differences in the lights, and colors. The 1995 900 we had had the panel in the middle with the Saab logo. I believe the 900 before that, maybe 1994, had a set of lenses that went the width of the back of the car. Since becoming the 9-3, I believe the lights are not connected across the back.
