Has anyone converted a car : with lug bolts to studs and nuts? Saab has been using them, with some exceptions, since at *least* the 93 (SAAB 93, not '93 SAAB) in the 50's. I don't know what others have experienced, but I'll say this - I've seen studs which have broken out of cars that use studs, but I've never seen a SAAB lug bolt break. Further, if one did, it's a simple matter of screwing in a new one, rather than dealing with the stub of a broken stud in your hub/drum/disk/whatever. The only inconvenience on the 2-stroke/V4's was that there wasn't a nice hanging-bolt to hold the wheel while you got the first bolt in, but that's what knees are for, after all. I don't know if it would be worth converting to lug bolts, though... the cure seems worse than the problem, and wouldn't be worth the effort to me. It's also not something that I'd use as a "Gee, I'd buy this car, if only it had lugbolts", but I do like having them as opposed to lugnuts. Dave Hinz
