Dan, I subscribe to your theory of the hot engine air offsetting any gain from the open filter. Some will tell you they gain 20 -30 HP just by adding the K&N cone. I've opted for the K&N drop in replacement for the original filter element in my '88 900T & '93 9k Aero. The 9000 guys like to use the open K&N cone but stuff it into the original location inside the drivers side fender, a reasonable compromise. I never found a perfect way to accomplish it in my 900T. The room would be better used for a larger intercooler or a charge cooler (air to water) located where the battery is and relocating the battery to the trunk. Just my $.02, Red "Dan Schleifer" <stevenopsamcom> wrote in message news:3AED7272.7845B1FBnopsamcom... > So, I was about to order the K&N cone filter kit for my 90' 900spg when > I started thinking about air temperature.
