If the cooling system is pressurising whilst the engine is only cranking, then you've got a serious compression leak - the only question is whther is it through a blown gasket or through the block (very unlikely). You've probably just got a blown gasket and a head that may need skimming. More importantly - find out what caused the overheat - you may have a bad water pump or hose or belts or ???
