Buy a 1994 or earlier 900 convertible. The ride and build quality of the newer 900's don't even come close. A friend of mine had one that we couldn't stop the front end from acting funny, swaying, and not handling properly. We tried 3 different types of tires, check the wheels for trueness and even had the district manager at the local Saab dealer help us. He replaced the front strut assembley at no charge. We still had the same crappy ride and handling. Then the district service manager told us, the new cars aren't even in the same class. He mentioed how there were something like 250 man hours in the older 900's and now there's only like 25-35 man hours to slap one together. We sold sold my friends conv and he never looked back. I have to agree. If I was a Saab convertible buyer you could be sure it would be a trusty 900, the old body style. I comfortable with maintaining them, they handle great and run forever. Before you BUY a 95 or later, drive one for a couple of days. Then drive an older conv. You'll see what I mean. There are plenty of nicely maintained 900's at good prices. No fear there. Anyone else noticed this?
