That's > the way women choose their cars! Actually I meant that: 1. Although the cars have somewhat different good points and bad points, on balance they rated very close in my mind. Close enough that a slightly better deal or a better color/trim combo on one or the other would swing me in favor of that one. The points in favor of the Saab were a little more on the "practical/functional" side, leading to my comment "a better all round car". 2. The dealer-demo Saab 9-5 I was considering had an unattractive color combo (probably why it was still at the dealer as a demo model), and the base interior trim looked cheap to me. It also rattled and creaked over the bumps a lot more than I thought was reasonable after 4000 miles. The dealer wanted a bit too much money for it, and the resale value therefore looked questionable. 3. The BMW I was considering was in immaculate shape after 17,000 miles: not a significant scratch, not a rattle or squeak. The color combo was good for me, and the interior trim seemed luxurious by comparison with the Saab. I was able to negotiate a good price, under market value. Both cars provided an enjoyable driving experience and sufficient utility for practical everyday use. But which one would you buy for your hard-earned money?
