I drive a US spec 2.0 with 185HP stock. There's little torque below 2500 RPM until the turbo starts pumping. I read a write up one time from someone who accounted for how Saab does their dyno test and how they come up with such a low RPM for max torque even though the engine does not pump much at those RPMS. I forget the details, but it was clear that the max torque was not really developed that low in real life conditions. One of the problems with the stock (2.0/185hp) setup is that the ECU opens the wastegate as soon as you open the throttle. This is done to provide a smoother response for the 'average' driver. But, by delaying the opening of the wastegate via a change (kit) to the ECU or by using a manual boost controller, the so called turbo lag is substantially reduced and the car moves out much more quickly. But, it is a little touchier - push the gas and you go when you are at speed on the road. So, you get a practical and serious boost where you need it. Many of the ECU kits do this for you -I don't know that the Saab factory kit would. -- Bob United We Stand
