Look at the pads. Look for uneven wear. Is there a pedal vibration when braking from higher speeds? It may be worn/warped disks which can help in causing the vibration/noise. Your car has odd (compared to most other cars) front brakes which have the parking brake on the front brakes. This can bind and in conjunction with the yoke can cause a clunk when backing up. these links may help understand what is going on. http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/faq/reverseb.html http://216.78.172.244/brake_folder/frontbrakepop.htm KeithG "Bruce" <Bruce199nospamnopsamdshare.net> wrote in message news:a8m46ucjmj0l7mn49kv942ld4o2gvuv10mnopsamcom... > I'm hoping that someone here can help me with a problem with my Non- > Turbo '84 900 Coupe. > > Symptom: > Severe front end vibration and rat-tat-tat sound when applying > brakes while backing up.
