Annual car tax is based on weight. Diesel cars are taxed higher, but diesel fuel is much much cheaper, hence beneficial to high mileage drivers. In the UK diesel fuel cost about 5% more at the pumps! Annual road tax varies £100-£155 depending on emission, so it is fairly gentle on larger cars, hence a 9-5 3.0 TiD will be the diesel choice in the UK. A large number of cars are company cars, the employee is taxed heavily from that in a most complicated way. It is often not worth while to have the use of a company car for private use. Johannes
