Subject: Re: Fuel Heater

I have a 2002 93TiD (125Bhp) which has the timer add-on for the heater. When I used this just after getting the car I had the smell of burning rubber- horrible. After being initially told it was because the car was new I ran the system for a full hour - still stank. Took it to the dealer who tried it but found "nothing". At my insistence the tried again - let it get really hot.... THE SECONDARY EXHAUST POINTED AT THE MAIN EXHAUST RUBBER MOUNT COOKING IT! They bent the secondary exhaust to point elsewhere and it is fine now. (my previous 110Bhp 1999 TiD with timer was OK.)
