If you'll go here http://www.saabnet.com/index.html and follow the link for
mechanics, you'll find a number of qualified Saab fixers in NC. Sounds like
all it will take to set your car right is some experience on the business
end of the wrench. The bulletin board there is also a gold mine of info and
contacts for any Saab owner.

least 3 - 6 clicks after filling up, but never thought the gas cap might
need to be replaced. Certainly doesn't hurt to try and it's a relatively
low-cost experiment.

indicator light came on. That month it was in addition to the Check Engine
light (both were on at the same time). Although, as I said in my first
post, I think the shift sensor problem was directly related to the fact that
my golden retriever (who rides in the passenger front seat) had, on numerous
previous occassions, rested her head and/or paws near the gear shift and
pushed the gear shift into neutral *while* I was driving. Definitely *NOT*
a good thing and after that $600 repair I don't allow her near the center
console anymore! She also locked me out of the car once while I was at a
gas station (but that's a whole other story). Luckily I had a spare key
outside the car

problem, they are finding something to fix and resetting the light. Replace
the gas cap, and if that does not do it after a few weeks, find a new dealer
or better yet, an independent who specializes in Saabs.

dealer in my area). This time (after 4 prior visits) they FINALLY put their
most-experienced Saab mechanic (a guru with over 20 years exper.) on my car.
We'll see how he does. I'm due to get the car back this afternoon. Each
visit before they kept handing my car off to a much more junior mechanic
whose main experiences had been with Volvos before he trained on fixing
Saabs. And, it takes me up to 2 weeks to get an appt. after the CE light
comes on because they only work on "drivability" issues on non-warranty
Saabs during certain scheduled times in the month. They are always booked
up for at least a week or two out. BTW, I've looked for an independent
mechanic in my area (Raleigh, NC) who works on Saabs and have not yet
located one. I didn't purchase the car in NC; I purchased it new in CA when
I was living there and by the time I moved to NC the warranty was expired.
Four years sure goes fast!
