Removed solder, resoldered. One solder joint, on 5v regulator, was powdery. One solder joint on pin 1 of cpu was almost not there. Cpu still dead, at least it's no longer intermittent, now it's completely dead. Cpu will no longer drive crystal oscillator. poop! No solder bridges, no obvious burnt spots, nothing. Dealer(s) want(s) 260 big mac's for a new one. (400 $us) I really hate surrendering. At that price it may be worth replacing most everything on the board. The only hard part will be the cpu itself. I don't suppose someone on the continent can help me out? Are prices better there? Used part, like you said is likely to be just as bad. dave the new guy obtw, sorry about this post's positioning. I have to use 2 news sites because alltel doesn't always update or send posts.
