Sometimes these fail all together, but often they go faulty and spike the supply with HT. The ECU's often can take this but the AMM cant and the HT spike fries them after a while. The stuttering is caused by the ECU shutting down momentarily when it gets spiked. Get it fixed before you blow the ECU as Saab ones are *frighteningly* expensive.
