Mine failed at around 105K miles, and although it appeared to operate normally, it gave the same symptoms as if the immobiliser was active - i.e. would fire but immediately cut out. As I was stranded this was a recovery job to dealer, and replacement. Sounds maybe more like a mechanical failure in your case perhaps? Tim H. ('96 9000CSE 2.3LPT, 117K miles)
