I decided that I didn't really need 4 doors, and liked the looks of a 2 door better, so the 9-5 was out of the picture. Geez, those cars made such an impression on me that I still read this newsgroup even though I no longer own a Saab! =D I could have bought a used car, but times have been good to me and I wanted to buy a brand new car for once, so I went looking at 9-3s and Viggens. 9-3s only came as 4 doors (except convertibles), so I was left with the Viggen as my only option. Honestly, I just didn't feel that they drove or felt like the classic Saabs. I was prepared to be impressed with a Viggen, but after a test drive I felt that it was too much power going to the front wheels. Felt rather odd, and I could not get used to the electronic torque limiter in 1st and 2nd gear. Would have been a fun car to drive solely on weekends, but wouldn't have fit me as a daily driver. So I bought the next closest car I could find, the new MB C230K hatchback. Trunk space is pitiful compared to a Saab, and there are touches here and there from Saabs that I still miss, but at least I was able to get a 2 door hatch where the seats fold down nicely. MB does have some very nice touches though, fantastic engineering. I've decided now that I like turbos more than superchargers though, I miss the turbo kick. All that said, I am looking again at a C900 Saab as a weekend car. I'm trying to find a Convertible SPG in good condition (any sellers in CA?). If I was looking for a 4 door, I would consider a 9-5 or the new 9-3 SS. But until I'm interested in moving from 2 doors to 4, I'm going to stay away from NG Saabs.
