Subject: Re: 2003 9-3 in snow?

The new 9-3 fitted with snow tires is very solid on snowy roads. My mother has an 03 with the sport wheel package. The dealer is using Gilslaved snows on one of the loaner 03s w/ sport wheel pkg, so she opted for the same snows. The dealer said the high performance 45 series tires weren't very good at all in the snow, so we haven't had any experience w/o snows. Bottom line, if you want performance in the summer and grip in the snow, have two dedicated sets of tires/wheels. BTW... She used to have a Jeep Grand Cherokee. She couldn't believe how much BETTER, yes I said BETTER, the Saab did in the snow. She said "I didn't slide at all!!!!!! That Jeep would've been all over the place" They are great cars. The Linear stereo system is a pity though. The rear deck is home to two lonely 4" speakers. Pretty shabby for a car of this caliber. The Arc and Vector will have larger speakers and a subwoofer.
