Perhaps it's different out there, but in New York and in Connecticut, it's common for auto insurance to include auto glass replacement with no deductible, regardless of the normal deductible on the policy. It also probably doesn't count against your rates -- ask your agent. If your insurance will pay for it, they'll probably recommend a few places to do the work. If the windshield needs replacement, make sure to use a place that does the work inside, in a controlled environment. Some places say they'll do it wherever your car may be; problem is, that may give you a not-so-good adhesive seal. You don't want to find out that the glue didn't hold when you're in an accident and the whole windshield shatters on you from the airbag deployment. Take the time to have it done right. Smaller cracks -- ones that can be covered by a dollar bill, and which don't go to the edge of the glass -- can be repaired without replacement. -- Rob Levandowski roblnopsamhiz.com (Opinions expressed are solely my own and not a statement from my employer)
