My personal anecdotal experience indicates that it does, again based on the lack of ever needing aeromedical transport for a driver who had an airbag, and having called many of them for folks who didn't have airbags. Then again, I've never called a helecopter for anyone driving a Saab, either. We did get to cut up a Lexxus once...that was interesting.
