maybe i shouldn't post this, but i'm a bit miffed - and i
still haven't had any respond to my request.
..begin rant..
i want to get back to the reason i posted in this thread in
the first place. i've been thinking (perhaps too long)
about what grunff and dave said to me in reply to my request
that dave not re-post parts of spammers' messages.
i have been appropriately admonished for top-posting, and,
in good faith did the necessary reading to understand the
rules of usenet. nonetheless, i think the diversion to
correct my usenet habits took away the wind from my original
request, which i still feel is a sensible one.
i think any response to a spammer gives them confidence that
their crap is being read. re-posting the same crap, albeit
to take them to task, just gives their spam more air time
and in a way legitimizes it. if this news group is about
saabs, then we should ignore and delete any messages that do
not respect the subject rather than giving those messages
any "air-time". frankly i'm miffed that i was admonished
for top-posting while i was genuinely trying to cull the
expansion of a spammers thread.
here's the request:
i request again that everyone in this group delete *all*
spam messages and not respond to them at all, for whatever
reason. don't give them any air-time.
the fact that the spammer that started this thread posts
here often just confirms that he suspects that his spam is
read. (and in order to respond to it, one has to have read
it, hasn't one?). as a usenet poster, i *didn't* expect to
get my hands slapped, but i've agreed to shape up. i'd
wager, on the other hand, that the spammer *does* expect to
get his hands slapped and will *never* agree to shape up.
so lets just ignore the crap, and get on with the saabing.
..end rant..
