I can only report that I have almost the same car, a 1993 CSE 2.0 LPT. It once had the hesitation as you described, the garage diagnosed the head gasket. I think there was also a problem with a weak batch of head gaskets. Another poor running problems was due to corroded plug connection to the air mass meter. Then later on I had the catalyst replaced, this was diagnosed by loose rattle from the catalyst (and poor running). Other than that I've never had problems with the management system or the injectors, but check sensor sockets. At this time the engine is running as smooth as a new in spite of rare servicing. Although I do change oil/filer religiously.
