It's usually best to look for a car without known issues... but the way to do it is to figure out the book value, have a Saab _mechanic_ who can fix the A/C look at it and give you a price, and then make an offer based on that. For this issue, I'd use a dealer price. It will be higher than an independent, but I think it's fair. Some NG900's have had problems with (AFAIR) the evaporator (?). They are not cheap to replace. At the same time, have them go over the whole car - pay them for an hour's labor - and see if it has any other problems. Make your offer based on their eval and the cost of any repairs.
