Subject: Replacing valve guide seals on 1992 9000 T?
Sometimes I get smoke out of my 1992 9000T on the first run down the
road in the morning. After that it is OK. I am assuming this engine
still has the rubber valve guide seals and this is likely the problem.
If so, how difficult is it to replace these and what special tools might
be available. I replaced the seals on one or more of my SAAB V4 engines
and I think I made a tool to compress the valve springs while using an
air compressor to keep the valves closed.
Are there any special adjustments that need to be made after replacing
the seals? I mean, taking out the camshafts, replacing seals, replacing
camshaft, is this tricky in some way?
Thanks for any help,
Charles
