ALL that Saab's cable is is an input cable that runs from the iPod's output to an Aux-in input in the back of the CD player. You can control the volume from your steering wheel controls, but nothing else. There is currently no Saab-friendly solution that allows you to control the iPod (move from song to song,, pause, etc.) from the Saab's steering wheel controls.
Your sound will suffer immensely if you use the iPod's headphone jack as your output rather than its line output. To use the line output, you'd use the cable from, for example, http://www.sik.com, or the Belkin dock connection kit. If the volume control on the Belkin is set to the right level (e.g., no amplification and no subtraction), it doesn't distort the music. Also, one of the Proclip kits goes over the vent above the center console (rather than the vent to the left of the steering wheel). You might want to see my posting from a couple weeks ago on this very board (entitled something like "how I oh-so-cleverly installed my iPod" or something like that) for a photo of my installation and details on how I did it -- weeks after the installation, I'm completely happy with it, still.
