Theoretically the 79% means you've used up only 21% of you oil life. Typically normal driving gets you about 15k between oil changes, a little more, like 18k, if you do a lot of highway driving and somewhat less if.

Many on these BB's are afraid of 15k oil changes for no reason or I should say the reason is they don't trust modern technology or they are overly anal or both. Road & Track magazine, a leader in the automotive field, endorses 15k oil changes for modern cars with full synthetic oil. R&T is careful to point out that the danger from a 15k oil change interval is not keeping up on checks inbetween. They cite a person who ran their BMW out of oil at 10k as it's not totally unusual for a good new car to burn a quart of oil every 2-3k.

It's very normal for modern BMWs, Mercedes, Saabs and the like, to come with full synthetic oil and oil life monitors with roughly 15k changes. R&T says there's nothing wrong with that. Modern synthetic oil and modern engines have no problem with that, just make sure you stay on top of oil and fluid levels, tire pressures and the like.

Where you once changed your oil every 3k, I say check it every 3k on your Vector as well as the rest of the fluids and tire pressures. Actually I'd check my tires more often. When tires leak they don't leave tell tale puddles or spots.

How many miles on your Vector? The car comes with free maintenance for 3 years and 36k so the 15k ish oil change or intermediate service and the major service triggered by the odometer at 30k are paid for by Saab. So with 79% remaining you should probably be somewhat over 20k miles or is it 40k?
