that frequent oil and filter changes with full synthetic keeps the Sludge Devil at bay; and, Saab's solution is full synthetic at more frequent intervals? This may not apply to the new engine in the 9-3SS but I didn't know there was a potential sludge problem in my brand new 9-5 when I got it. All the techs, Saab company and Independents who have given seminars at Saab Owners' Conventions have said that the best single thing an owner can do to prolong the life of an engine is frequent fluid changes as in more frequent than stated in the Owner's Manual. I think experience bears this out for most of us.
