I've always had mixed feelings about hides...

They do add some class to a car, but they are mostly overrated. But when comparing to cloth, it does depend on the cloth. Even my old C900 base model's cloth was rip-free and still fairly decent after 20 years (yes, I really kept it that long).
My wife's Exploder has leather (perforated, not active venting) and it has held up incredibly well to 8 years of kids and dogs. The stain and dirt resistance of the Ford leather is great. The interior of a friend's Exploder with cloth and dogs and kids was a wreck inside of 4 years.
But leather is not all the same, either. The cheap stuff they put in Hyundais and other bottom-feeders is paper thin and wears out fast. My 9K's leather holds up well and still looks good, and the heaters make it OK in winter, but still, I would be perfectly happy if my 9K CSE had cloth seats like my daughter's CS, but then Saab does really good cloth seats.
