I know there have been numerous posts regarding the MPG estimates on the SID. And yes i know they arent perfectly accurate and that to get a real estimate you should do the calculations on your own. However, when i first got my 05' 93 Arc in August, i noticed that I would consistantly get about 19 City(maybe 15 in NYC stop and go), and as much as 37-38 highway cruising(on a 200 mile trip). I know it goes up and down depending on how hard you drive it, but i also know that sometimes MPG will improve as the car ages. So why does it seem like im getting worse gas mileage after 3 months? Over the past couple of weeks (I only drive the car 2-3 times a week) I have been getting lower than 10 MPG (9.9 to be exact) in slow traffic. I also notice that when clearing the trip computer right as I am merging on the highway, the MPG starts at 0 and slowly works its way up 5,6,7,8,9 and so on until it really slows its progression once it hits 20, then only after like 20 miles does it finally get to about 30MPG after cruising at 60mph. I would think it would go faster being that its been cleared right before highway cruising. THEN when coming back off the highway after 40mi. trip, and maybe stopping at one light before getting to my block(1/2 mile) and parking(not much slow traffic) I would notice the MPG upon getting back in my car after a few hours, the SID would say 9.9MPG.This is after a trip of about 40 miles with 39m. cruising at 60 and about 1/2m. street speed. When i first got my car, I would notice that when I cleared the trip computer while about to cruise it started way up at about 40 MPG and slowly decrease until it stayed around 34-35 or higher if i kept cruising. I only have 2000mi after 3 months--Is this normal Trip Computer behavior? I would think it would be more accurate than this seems to be...anyone else notice this behavior? 9.9 MPG???
