Between the indifferent styling, the "GM" interiors, DIC problems and the "dreaded sludge", I've been putting-off replacing my C900 '91 Turbo convert. for years. But with 325k+ miles on the original engine and trans, I'm encouraged by what people have been saying about the 93ss to go off to the Saab dealer to look at the new convertibles. While the turbo-lag in the old C900 was legendary (so I bought an automatic), I understand the stick-shifts are much smoother with the control-by-wire throttle and turbo system now.
Since there are no local Saab dealers local (closest is an hour's drive each-way) what should I call-ahead about before getting in the car? As I understand, the three trim-levels (arc-linear-aero) have been replaced by either the 4-cyl. or the 6-cyl. models. None are large dealerships and usually only have a few convertibles on the lot at any one time, so I'd like to call ahead and make an appointment...what should I ask if they "have in-stock"? The closest dealer, whom I use for service, usually just has two or three cars with automatic in Black, White or Silver.
(The C900 cars had much better color selections, I've owned C900's in Grey, Dark Charcoal, and currently in Malachite Green with gray leather seats.)
