Brakes at 30k is pretty normal. Some folks go longer, quite a few shorter, Saab brakes aren't particularly short lived or long lived. It's very easy for a dealer to oversell brakes. And brakes are a major province of the independent, it's not covered under warranty anyway so get a quote from your local indy.
I'd have a few more questions for the dealer. What percentage of brakes are left? What do they actually measure? Often the replacement recommendation is premature. I'd run 'em until the wear indicators started to scream. You might get another 5-10k. So what if you get right down to metal on metal, they recommend rotors anyway, get your moneys worth.
Also dealers are trying to avoid hassles by only doing brakes with new rotors whereas in many cases new pads are all that's needed. They say the rotors are dished? Maybe, maybe not, the rotor is very visible through the wheel, make 'em show you. I've had good luck with fresh pads and worn rotors. I'd get a second opinion at an independent.
