Lotsa' driving time, very little classroom time. Taught at the very beautiful Road Atlanta racing facility by the very talented Panoz folks.
They have many professional venues to rotate you through. The skid pad is oh probably 600ft across with only the middle 300 feet or so watered down so they do a slalom in and out of the water. The autocross course is tons of fun and they mix it up with some fun team events as well as the tennis ball in the salad bowl on the hood trick. The lane change set up with the three lanes each with it's own traffic signal allows a couple of different stopping and lane change exercises. There's also a cone slalom set up to challenge yourself.
It's challenging enough for those of us with a little track time or racing experience already and basic enough for the inexperienced so that they'll be slugging it out with the folks who think they know what they're doing.
I've heard that when the track is not in use the instuctors might even treat you to a lap on the actual Road Atlanta layout. When we were there it was a busy "track day" which is like $500 for run what you brung with everthing from a lot's of locally built SHO Taurus' to Corvettes to some no particular class track day cars.
There's plenty of cars and intructors and even when the class is full there's more than enough seat time, too much for some folks who have been traveling a little too much or with less than solid stomachs. They put on a nice lunch both days and Saturday night is dinner with a Saab person who can make a difference as well as the insturctors.
I shared a car rental with a die hard Saab fan who did a wonderful write up in Nines of the Aero Academy. He stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at the main facility and I was a little late booking and stayed down the road a couple of exits.
Yes do go. It was about $500 in travel expenses to take in the $1,350 course.
